About me
As the College & Career Access Coordinator for Southwestern Community College, I work very closely with the GEAR UP and On Ramp Grants within three school districts. For over 15 years, I’ve taught independent living skills and pre-transitional employment strategies to students with disabilities while doubling as a job coach. These experiences demanded innovative teaching which is a skill set I value and continue to curate. I believe that anyone can succeed in their professional and personal goals if they’re armed with the proper tools and I’m honored to offer my services to this end. I am a creative person that thinks outside of the box. For instance, one of my hobbies is puppeteering -- a tool I use to assist in sharing stories and helping others relate and communicate their personal experiences. I’m hardworking, trustworthy, and a determined problem solver as well as an innovative creative fueled by optimism. I’m grateful to share my unique perspective and skills with my students and colleagues as well as the various community organizations I support. I spend a lot of my free time volunteering for nonprofits that work with individuals with disabilities. Presently, I am on the Jackson County Board for Special Olympics as well as the president of a nonprofit service called Smokey Mountain Civitan’s for Jackson County. My values manifest in dedication to my work and in a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. In my spare time, I enjoy photography, drawing, and knitting.
