Join us for an engaging, interactive in-person session designed specifically for GEAR UP educators, coordinators, and STEM facilitators. Discover how Vernier Go Direct® wireless sensors can transform science learning into dynamic, data-rich experiences that build college and career readiness for all students.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will:
• Explore a variety of Vernier sensors (including temperature, motion, pH, gas, and force sensors) and see real-time data collection in action using intuitive software.
• Participate in a guided Vernier Connections activity — a phenomena-based, three-dimensional lesson that integrates scientific and engineering practices with hands-on investigation. These standards-aligned (NGSS) activities help students make meaningful connections between classroom science, real-world phenomena, and future STEM pathways.
Vernier sensors are widely used in K-12 STEM classrooms and have become a standard tool in college science courses and research labs across the country. By exposing GEAR UP students to this technology, you give them a significant advantage as they pursue degrees in higher education.
Attendees will leave with practical strategies for implementing low-prep, high-impact sensor activities in GEAR UP programs, along with tips for fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and data literacy. Whether you’re working with middle or high school cohorts, this session will equip you with tools to increase student engagement and postsecondary readiness through authentic STEM experiences that build foundational and advanced skills in science.
